Capacity Building Services

We implement a participatory design in everything we do to meet your unique needs.

Our philosophy and mission revolve around helping organizations needing additional assistance to remain viable or to move to the next level of service to communities. Because our primary purpose is to help these organizations, we offer solutions that can be sustained by the organization's staff after they have been implemented.
At Mission Lift, we are driven to make your organization succeed. We value client-centered and outcome-focused processes to achieve results.

Organizations searching for reasonably priced assistance with developing a strategic or fund development plan, writing a grant proposal to a potential funder, evaluating a program, or creating a visually appealing annual report, look no further. Mission Lift can support you!
Mission Lift's participatory process engages those most impacted and elevates their voices so they are heard.

Our Commitment

Mission Lift strives to continuously improve and learn in order to provide exceptional services. We are always striving to do better.

These are concrete efforts we are currently doing as a company to bring about greater consciousness, accountability, and equity.

  • Work with people and communities who are historically underprivileged, marginalized, and underrepresented.
  • Discounted rates for Mission Lift services to BIPOC-led organizations.
  • Equity in Mission Lift hiring process - we listen and accommodate. Candidates have the opportunity to share their needs so there is more agency and power in interaction.
  • Promote a diverse team at Mission Lift to reflect communities we serve.
  • Value lived experiences in addition to traditional academic preparation and degrees - provide on-the-job training in grant writing and other service areas to supplement traditional education.
  • BIPOC team members are listened to and trusted to lead projects.
  • Create a safe space and work environment - for example, using pronouns on Zoom, emails, and introductions, and conducting weekly check ins with team members so they feel heard.
  • Conduct compensation analysis - study of what is equitable for lived experience and qualifications, and adjust pay rates accordingly.
  • Take on socially unjust policies and projects (i.e., gentrification in Detroit; unequal access for minority contractors on government bids; police reform; opioid stigma; and environmental justice).
  • Do not use language that maintains oppressor patterns (for example, "hey you guys", instead use "hey everybody").
  • For team members that are white, reflect on our own racism and white supremacy via anti-racism book groups and trainings,  intentionally building relationships to change other white people's attitudes and language, and listening to BIPOC team members and clients.
  • Get feedback from our clients and populations we serve on how we can improve as a company and as people.
